Job Role:
The Media Officer will be responsible for crafting clear and compelling messages, acting as a spokesperson, and monitoring media coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and distribute press releases ensuring accuracy and alignment with departmental policies.
- Craft clear and compelling messages for senior leadership.
- Act as a spokesperson for the department dealing with media inquiries and managing media relations.
- Monitor media coverage and provide timely advice to senior leadership on emerging issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging.
Requirements:
- At least one year of experience working in a media team at a government department or agency.
- Proven experience in dealing with the media on sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and craft messages for senior leaders.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Baseline security clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
