Job Role:

The Media Officer will be responsible for crafting clear and compelling messages, acting as a spokesperson, and monitoring media coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and distribute press releases ensuring accuracy and alignment with departmental policies.
  • Craft clear and compelling messages for senior leadership.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the department dealing with media inquiries and managing media relations.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide timely advice to senior leadership on emerging issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience working in a media team at a government department or agency.
  • Proven experience in dealing with the media on sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and craft messages for senior leaders.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Baseline security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory.
