Community Development Specialist
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Development Specialist, where you will play a key role in building strong partnerships with local organisations and community groups.
You will be responsible for designing and delivering community capacity building initiatives that align with the National Disability Insurance Agency's (NDIA) Individualised Support (ILC) Policy Framework.
Key responsibilities include facilitating community mapping to identify service gaps and opportunities, co-designing initiatives with individuals with disability and their families, and engaging with diverse community groups including First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, LGBTIQA+SB and rural/remote communities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in community development and/or capacity building with measurable outcomes, a strong knowledge of the NDIS and disability sector, and excellent communication and engagement skills.

- A strong knowledge of the NDIS and disability sector
- Proven ability to build genuine partnerships and co-design with individuals with a disability
- Experience in project planning, performance measurement and community engagement
- Excellent communication and engagement skills
- A high level of organisational and self-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a community-based setting
- Strong commitment to inclusion, diversity and accessibility
- Experience managing community events
- Tertiary qualification in community development, social work or related field
- Access to reliable transport to travel locally
- NDIS Workers Screening Check & Working with Children's Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Undergo a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- Valid Australian Working Rights
- Lived experience of disability is highly valued
