Workshop Operations Manager

Job Opportunity

This is a newly created position responsible for supervising and directing the day-to-day fleet maintenance activities at our Emerald workshop. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and direction to maintenance personnel for the repairs and maintenance of Veolia fleet, plant, and equipment to ensure the fleet is safe and compliant to operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing repairs and maintenance of the Veolia Central Qld fleet.
  • Coordinate equipment servicing for both internal and site-based equipment, including liaising with customers, drivers, operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure all matters are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Efficiently process work orders, purchase orders, and timesheets.
  • Maintain high workplace health and safety standards through visible leadership and interaction with the workforce.
  • Maintain plant and equipment service records.
  • Manage team performance and provide direction and support, coordinating training and upskilling of staff.
  • Assist the fleet administration team.
  • Manage and coordinate external subcontractors.
  • Evaluate concerns and issues and escalate them to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide support to the Fleet Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Qualification in heavy vehicle road transport and maintenance or similar.
  • Experience within a transport or manufacturing operational environment.
  • Experience supervising and managing a team.
  • HR license.
  • Knowledge of maintenance requirements in a continuous operating environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • SAP Plant Maintenance Knowledge or equivalent fleet maintenance system experience (desirable).
