
Zone Substation Power Systems Specialist

We are currently recruiting an electrical technician to join our transmission team. This role has a preferred location of Queanbeyan; however, locations of Jindabyne, Goulburn and Cooma will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for construction and maintenance of zone substations. They will inspect, test, and report the nature and condition of network assets and install, commission, and test associated zone substation and distribution equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Constructing and maintaining zone substations in accordance with safety protocols and industry standards.
- Installing, commissioning and testing associated zone substation and distribution equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage engineering services in a safe and controlled environment.
- Inspecting, testing, and reporting on the nature and condition of network assets to maintain quality standards.
- Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Operating plant and equipment associated with zone substations in a safe and responsible manner.
- Current NSW electrician's licence (supervisors certificate)
- Driver's licence
- WorkCover NSW construction induction certificate
- Diploma in ESI power systems with preferred electives in testing systems (desirable)
- High voltage, transmission or power systems experience (desirable)
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Basic skills in computer operations
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders and customers
- Willingness to travel and work away from home
