Our organization is seeking a highly experienced Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist to join our team. As an OHS Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, contractors, and clients.

This position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance on OHS matters, developing and implementing OHS policies, procedures, and programs that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Duties:
  • Work closely with various teams to deliver Installation and construction work packages while ensuring adherence to OHS standards.
  • Implement and manage each project's delivery plan, taking into account OHS considerations.
  • Review existing OHS policies and procedures and update them as necessary to ensure compliance with WHS Harmonisation Act.
  • Develop new OHS policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Implement OHS plans and strategies for the organization.
  • Apply process approach and risk-based thinking to ensure quality OHS policies and objectives are implemented within the team.
  • Monitor compliance to site-specific OHS requirements and conduct regular audits.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive safety culture by creating strategies and action plans.
  • Prepare system documentation as required and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable regulations and support the site team in meeting organizational OHS duties.
  • Ensure all incident data and OHS metrics are completed and documented.
  • Investigate incidents and identify hazards and risks, recommending corrective actions.
  • Promote awareness of OHS best practices and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and new worker inductions as needed.
  • Acknowledge and adhere to the organization's Code of Conduct, protecting personal and others' health and safety.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure alignment with their OHS procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with current professional developments and advancements in OHS management.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
  • Holding Cert IV OHS accreditation or higher.
  • A valid driver's license, with a strong emphasis on road safety.
