The Role

The ICT Infrastructure Manager plays a critical role in coordinating the design, build, security, uplift, and maintenance of technology-enabling infrastructure. This includes compute, storage, hosting, networks, and cloud services.

This position requires effective stakeholder management and change management to ensure successful delivery of high-quality support to end-users and the broader ICT team.

The ICT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for ensuring high levels of system performance and reliability. This involves strategic planning, project management, and coordination with various IT teams to support the organisation's operational needs.

Key Accountabilities

• Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain technology infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud solutions, networks, and data centers.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on performance, capacity, scalability, and security to ensure optimal system operation.
• Network Management: Manage the company's data networks to ensure connectivity, performance, and security, including LAN, WAN, and internet connections.
• Vendor Management: Manage infrastructure support providers and consultants to ensure they deliver on contractual obligations and are used efficiently to provide proactive services and remediation.
• Architecture Documentation: Develop and maintain architecture documentation related to infrastructure and network design, ensuring service providers maintain this documentation regularly.
• Business Planning: Align technology infrastructure planning with BG&E's strategic goals and ICT operational plans and budgets, contributing to the annual budget process.
• Cloud Migration Strategy: Develop and implement a cloud migration strategy, operational plan, and timelines to ensure seamless transition.
• Microsoft Azure Administration: Deploy and support solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, including Microsoft 365 and Azure Administration and Engineering.
• Managed Services Transition: Lead the transition of managed services and support from an on-premises model to a supported cloud environment.
• Capacity Planning: Plan and manage server and storage environments, including replacement planning, to ensure optimal system performance.
• Infrastructure Patch Management: Develop and execute an infrastructure patch management strategy to ensure system security and reliability.
• Application Packaging: Assist in packaging applications for automated, non-interactive deployment and maintenance of standard operating environments.
• Cyber Security: Support cyber security projects and implement technical and physical controls to ensure system security.
• Incident Response: Assist in responding and remediating Severity 1 ICT issues and Critical security incidents.
• Documentation and Knowledge Base: Maintain all technical documentation and knowledge base articles to ensure accurate information sharing.
• Disaster Recovery: Ensure data backup and disaster recovery processes are in place, tested, and effective.

About You

• Tertiary Qualification: Hold a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
• Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in a team lead or manager capacity, with a proven ability to think strategically and develop technology strategies to support business objectives.
• Technical Expertise: Knowledge and practical capabilities of a Microsoft Modern Workplace environment, including advanced application of the M365 & Azure platforms.
• Cyber Security Governance: Knowledge and experience in cyber security governance and incident management.
• Change Management: Experience in change management processes and effective stakeholder management.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
• IT Architecture Principles: Understanding of IT Architecture principles, such as TOGAF.
• Azure Certifications: Azure Fundamentals certification (mandatory) and Azure Solutions Architect certification (preferred).
• Complex Solutions Experience: Experience across a range of complex solutions and project environments.
• Security Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices for secure implementations.
• Time Management: Efficient time management.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Senior Level Experience

• Server and Storage Infrastructure: Building, configuring, and deploying server and storage infrastructure and Windows Server Operating Systems.
• Microsoft Azure Administration: Administering and deploying solutions on the Microsoft Azure environment.
• Microsoft 365 Administration: Administering and deploying Microsoft 365 solutions.
• Server Virtualisation: Server virtualisation and enterprise storage solutions, including VMware and Hyper-V.
• PowerShell Scripting: PowerShell scripting.
