Pest Control Specialist for Environmental Services

We are seeking a Pest Controller/Grounds Person to support our Defence Base Services contract in Hobart, Tasmania. This role involves managing and executing pest control services, as well as assisting with environmental land management activities including weed management, fire management, grounds maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs across various sites in northern Tasmania.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing inspections and identifying pest issues
  • Applying appropriate treatments and solutions to control and prevent pest infestations
  • Maintaining detailed records of services provided and materials used
  • Performing land management activities including ride on mowing, tractor slashing, and chainsaw operation
  • Providing minor planned maintenance and inspections
  • Recording and notifying discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
  • Supporting the Range Control function
  • Managing TA accommodation and associated areas
  • Managing first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges, including the provision of designated firefighting vehicles, equipment, and crews

About you:

  • Prior experience in pest control is preferred
  • Pest & Vermin control qualifications
  • Chemical Application Certificate
  • Experience in Environmental Grounds Maintenance
  • Proficiency in using grounds maintenance machinery such as ride on mowers, tractors, brush cutters, etc.
  • Experience with using a chainsaw
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound problem-solving, organisational, and time management skills

As an Australian citizen, you must be eligible to maintain a Defence clearance and pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
