Environmental Pest Management Specialist

Ventia is a leading provider of essential services in Australia and New Zealand.
We are seeking an experienced Pest Controller/Grounds Person to join our Defence Base Services team in Hobart, Tasmania.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing pest control services, as well as assisting with environmental land management activities including weed management, fire management, grounds and garden maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs across various sites in northern Tasmania.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections to identify pest issues and implement effective solutions.
- Apply treatments and solutions to control and prevent pest infestations.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and materials used.
- Conduct land management activities including ride-on mowing, tractor slashing, and chainsaw operation.
- Perform minor planned maintenance activities and inspections.
- Record and notify any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
- Provide support to the Range Control function.
- Manage TA accommodation and associated areas.
- Manage first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges, including the provision of designated fire fighting vehicles, equipment, and crews.
About You:
- Previous experience in pest control is highly desirable.
- Pest and vermin control qualifications are essential.
- A Chemical Application Certificate is required.
- Experience in environmental grounds maintenance is essential.
- Proficiency in the use of grounds maintenance machinery such as ride-on mowers, tractors, brush cutters, etc.
- Experience with using a chainsaw is necessary.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required.
- Australian citizenship is essential, and the ability to maintain a Defence clearance is required.
