We are currently seeking a highly skilled Pest Control Specialist to support our Defence Base Services contract in Hobart, Tasmania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing pest control services, as well as assisting with environmental land management activities, including weed management, fire management, grounds and garden maintenance, and environmental monitoring programs across multiple sites in northern Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify pest issues and develop effective control strategies.
  • Apply appropriate treatments and solutions to prevent pest infestations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and materials used, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform land management activities, including ride-on mowing, tractor slashing, and chainsaw operation, to maintain a safe and well-manicured environment.
  • Identify and report any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and provide support to the Range Control function.
  • Manage TA accommodation and associated areas, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for personnel.
  • Develop and implement first response bushfire fighting capabilities, including the provision of designated fire fighting vehicles, equipment, and crews.

About You:

  • Previous experience in pest control and environmental management is highly desirable.
  • Pest and vermin control qualifications, as well as chemical application certificates, are essential.
  • Experience in environmental grounds maintenance, including the use of ride-on mowers, tractors, brush cutters, and chainsaws, is required.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
