Ventia is a leading provider of essential services in Australia and New Zealand, delivering critical infrastructure support to communities nationwide.

We are seeking a skilled Pest Control Specialist to join our Defence Base Services team in Hobart, Tasmania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing pest control services, as well as assisting with environmental land management activities, including weed management, fire management, and grounds maintenance across multiple sites in northern Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify pest issues and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Apply appropriate treatments and solutions to control and prevent pest infestations.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and materials used.
  • Perform land management activities, including ride-on mowing, tractor slashing, and chainsaw operation.
  • Conduct minor planned maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Record and notify any discovered Unexploded Ordnance (UXO).
  • Provide support to the Range Control function.
  • Manage TA accommodation and associated areas.
  • Manage first response bushfire fighting capability to designated Training Areas and Ranges.

About You:

  • Previous experience in pest control is preferred.
  • Pest and Vermin control qualifications are essential.
  • Chemical Application Certificate is required.
  • Experience in environmental grounds maintenance is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in the use of grounds maintenance machinery, including ride-on mowers, tractors, and brush cutters.
  • Experience with chainsaw operation is necessary.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship is mandatory.
  • Ability to maintain a Defence clearance.
  • Pass an Australian Federal Police Check and Medical Pre-Employment Checks as required by the contract.
