Senior Research Scientist—Aquaculture Geneticist: AIMS Researcher

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist—Aquaculture Geneticist to join our team at ECO Magazine. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in conducting aquaculture activities and ensuring quality assurance and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting aquaculture activities and ensuring quality assurance and quality control
- Developing novel techniques and frameworks to minimize genetic diversity loss of aquaculture organisms relative to broodstock and wild populations
- Supporting rapid decision making for aquaculture-based restoration by developing workflows from sample collection, sample processing, data collection, and data processing
- Working closely with stakeholders to support the development of DNA-based tools for the rapid detection of pests and pathogenic microbes under aquarium conditions
Requirements:
- PhD in Marine Biology or a related field
- Extensive experience in genetic and genomic analyses, molecular work, bioinformatics, and data analysis using massive parallel sequencing
- Demonstrated experience with sexual reproduction and aquaculture practices, preferably the reproduction of corals
- Project management skills
What We Offer:
- AOF Level 5 to 6 salary ($113,275 to $147,453 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
- Located in Townsville, Queensland. Commuter car arrangements to site available
