About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Officer to join our team at the Australian Institute of Marine Science. As a key member of our National Sea Simulator team, you will play a critical role in supporting our research outputs and contributing to the advancement of our understanding of tropical marine ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality experimental support to contribute to research outputs
  • Assist in the operation, optimization, and maintenance of life support systems
  • Develop, construct, operate, and maintain systems for scientific experiments
  • Carry out activities to build, establish, test, and commission systems for experimentation, holding, propagation, and breeding of marine organisms
  • Provide direct operational input and support in the operation and maintenance of the Sea Sim facility
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification or relevant trade experience in a field such as plumbing, fitter, hatchery, aquaculture, or technical role
  • Good technical skills, high degree of initiative, and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and capacity to work weekends and public holidays
