About the Role

The Australian Institute of Marine Science is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team in Townsville, Queensland. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will play a key role in assisting with bioinformatics and analyses to support investigations into the genetic architecture of thermal tolerance phenotypes in corals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with bioinformatics, analyses, writing, and publication preparation for research outputs;
  • Provide comprehensive support, advice, and collaboration to AIMS researchers and team members using genomic tools;
  • Develop rigorous high-throughput procedures for managing the rapid analysis of large genomic data sets;
  • Supervise Early Career Researchers and students enabling them to execute impactful research.

Requirements:

  • PhD demonstrating substantive work entailing genomic variability within species, preferably for non-model organisms;
  • Demonstrated experience with bioinformatic pipelines using whole-genome sequencing data and experience with statistical analysis of complex data from multiple sources;
  • Track record of research excellence and academic achievement relative to career stage;
  • Ability to deliver outputs in a professional manner.

  • AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($97,169 to $106,895 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation;
