About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Independence Officer to join our Risk and Quality team in Sydney. As the point of contact for general inquiries about relationship checks, independence system, and independence letters, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our firm's independence matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders regarding independence matters with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Perform thorough relationship checks using the global independence system and other reliable sources to identify potential conflicts of interest.
  • Prepare and issue independence letters to clients and third parties, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct data entry, data validation, and data analysis tasks to support the smooth operation of our independence systems.
  • Assist in researching corporate structures and family trees to ensure accurate information is maintained in our databases.
  • Support the Independence Manager and Partner with ad hoc projects and tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Prior experience in a similar role or in an accounting, audit, or risk function, with a strong understanding of independence matters.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in your work.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines.
