Board Governance and Strategic Direction

The Board is responsible for the overall governance, management, and strategic direction of the organization.

Each board member is elected and collectively forms the organization's board.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strategies to guide and control organizational activities.
  • Make resources available to achieve strategy and oversee their use.
  • Monitor performance and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Risk management framework to support informed decision-making.
  • Reporting progress and aligning collective interests.
Selection Criteria
  • Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities and threats.
  • Identify key risks and contribute to addressing clinical risks.
  • Knowledge of best practice corporate and clinical governance structures.
  • Possession of a passion for supporting victim-survivors of sexual assault.
  • Interpersonal communication skills and character necessary for collaborative work.
  • Knowledge of socio-cultural, legal, and regulatory environment influencing sexual violence.
  • Willingness to commit to director professional education and engage in activities improving board performance.
  • Experience in not-for-profit community-based organizations.
  • Experience working in professional settings where clients experience traumatic events.
  • Training/experience in working with diversity, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Understanding of sexual assault through intersectional approach.
  • Ability to attend scheduled after-hours board meetings and participate in subcommittee.
  • Preparedness to actively contribute and challenge status quo.
  • Eligibility for National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check.
