Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Claims Specialist to join our in-house claims team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in optimising claim costs while ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage high-cost claims within the terms of underwritten travel insurance policies, from assistance to finalisation.
  • Make approval or declinature decisions on active cases within delegated authority, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide expert advice to claimants, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and empathetically throughout the claims process.
  • Review clients' situations individually and assess cases in order to ensure the right level of coverage of insurance is provided.
  • Review individual cases to ensure the appropriate level of insurance coverage and apply a strong understanding of claims assessment rules and relevant legislation.
  • Communicate clearly and solution-focused with customers, while supporting colleagues on technical claim matters and upholding company values.
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance claims, with a strong preference for experience in travel or health insurance. General insurance experience, particularly in handling major loss claims valued at $100K and above, is highly regarded.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Insurance Contracts Act, Privacy Act, GICOP, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to interpret underwriting procedures and relevant policy wordings accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse technical and investigation reports to make sound business decisions.
  • Proficient multitasking skills, with effective system navigation, PC literacy, and experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
