Job Overview

The Workplace Relations Consultant plays a pivotal role in maintaining McDonald's employer standards in Australia. As a key team member, you will provide expert advice on employee and industrial relations to stakeholders.

You will be responsible for driving policy development and refinement related to employment obligations, as well as training and facilitation to ensure policy adoption and legal compliance.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to stay current with Australian legal and policy updates. You will collaborate with the Head of Workplace Relations and other teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and develop best practices across national operations.

  1. Provide expert guidance on employee and industrial relations to stakeholders.
  2. Lead the development and refinement of policies and procedures related to employment obligations.
  3. Develop and lead training programs to ensure policy adoption and legal compliance.

This role offers flexible working arrangements and is open to both part-time and remote work. The successful candidate will be based in Sydney, Australia.

Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee/Industrial Relations:
  • Offer expert advice in ER and IR to stakeholders.
  • Drive the development and refinement of policies and procedures in relation to McDonald's restaurant-facing employment obligations.
  • Ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees through our employee relations program.
Case Management/Investigations:
  • Manage employment-related claims, including assisting Licensees in such claims.
  • Conduct investigations into employment-related allegations, such as bullying, harassment, discrimination, people practices breaches, and other employment-related matters.
  • Collaborate with McDonald's legal counsel and external lawyers on investigations and actions required following the outcome of an investigation.
Training and Facilitation:
  • Deliver employee relations-related content to stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure policy adoption and legal compliance.
