AI Engineering Leadership Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced software delivery leader to join our AI Product Engineering teams. As a key member of the Small Business and Growth Division, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software to customers while fostering a world-class engineering culture.

Job Description:

Our ideal candidate has deep experience managing software delivery and engineering teams using Lean-Agile methodologies. They have a strong understanding of modern software delivery practices and the software development lifecycle. Proven ability to execute initiatives successfully is essential, as well as comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead and guide their team in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing team through effective hiring, coaching, mentoring, and setting clear direction aligned with technology and strategic goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing, developing, and implementing best practices.
  • Ensure your team's delivery pipeline flows predictably and sustainably, proactively addressing blockers to maintain momentum.
  • Establish and maintain accurate, fit-for-purpose, and sustainable delivery systems within your team, including providing informed estimates, delivery forecasts, capacity planning, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with peers in Product, Design, and Engineering to develop clear roadmaps and plans that deliver business outcomes efficiently.
  • Stay current with relevant engineering technologies, practices, techniques, and frameworks applicable to Xero's software applications.

Requirements:

  • Deep experience managing software delivery and engineering teams using Lean-Agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices and the software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to execute initiatives successfully.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, with the ability to lead and guide your team in dynamic environments.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring engineering teams.
