Job Role Overview

This is a senior leadership position focused on managing the technical direction and day-to-day operations of network and server environments.

The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians to maintain and evolve critical infrastructure, including physical servers, networking hardware, system configurations, and software environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of technicians in the development, integration, and sustainment of software, hardware, data, tools, and processes for ADF mission planning systems.
  • Conducting performance reviews, setting team objectives, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of physical server and networking hardware, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of system configurations for MPS laptops and servers.
  • Coordinating the installation, configuration, testing, and deployment of software and security updates.
  • Providing technical leadership for resolving data support issues and ensuring mission systems meet operational requirements.
  • Supporting Defence strategic networks, ensuring compliance with security and accreditation standards.
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating program and technical risks within the operations scope.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and enhancing documentation for MPS development and sustainment.
  • Ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within scope; Fostering collaboration with technical staff and client stakeholders to deliver innovative, secure ICT solutions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Defence ICT environments experience (including Defence Protected Environment (DPE) and Defence Secret Environment (DSE)).
  • MS Windows Imaging experience.
  • MS Windows security experience.
  • MS Windows Server Platforms experience.
  • Technical/Admin level experience with client operating systems from MS Windows 10 – 11.
  • MS Windows Office products experience.
  • Software Scripting experience.
  • Defence ICT Security Accreditation requirements knowledge.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

The following skills are desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Aviation Mission Planning and knowledge of AC-C2CS environment.
  • Layer 2/3 Networking experience.
  • Technical/Admin level experience with Linux client operating systems.
  • Experience in software development environments.
  • Database development experience using SQL Server.
  • Advanced Office Computing Application knowledge in Win10/11, Excel, Word, Access & XML.
  • Software testing, including unit testing.
  • Hyper-V experience.
  • VMware/VSphere experience.
  • Intel McAfee EPO Suite experience.
  • Geospatial data experience.
  • Recovery/Backup Tools experience.
