Fulfil General Surgery Role at Launceston General Hospital
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and develop skills in general surgery.
The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking approved general surgical outpatient and inpatient services, participating in after-hours registrar/consultant on-call rosters, and providing leadership and mentoring for surgical registrars and resident medical officers.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake approved general surgical outpatient and inpatient services
- Participate in the after-hours registrar/consultant on-call rosters
- Provide leadership and mentoring for surgical registrars and resident medical officers
- Assist with quality improvement, audit and service improvement within the Department of Surgery
- Manage private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility
- Provide after hours emergency cover as determined by the relevant work unit
Broad exposure to General Surgery including operating, emergencies and clinic
The role is well supported clinically with additional teaching and research opportunities
The welcoming community surrounding the hospital consists of natural scenery garnished with wineries, markets and distilleries and entertaining world class outdoor activities
Closely contact with consultant staff
Limited evenings and weekends on call
BenefitsFixed term full time day worker position working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing from February 2026 until January 2027
