Job Summary:

As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Operating Suite team to deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

The Mater Hospital Brisbane Perioperative Services team is seeking a motivated and experienced Operating Theatre Assistant to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent full-time opportunity that requires providing quality and safe care to adult and obstetric patients requiring surgical intervention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the Operating Suite team by assisting with patient positioning, preparing theatres, and maintaining cleanliness while restocking supplies
  • Providing, arranging, and verifying all necessary equipment for theatre lists procedures
  • Employing safe techniques for patient and material handling to ensure a secure environment for patients, oneself, and team members
  • Upholding infection control standards by adhering to standard protocols and any additional precautions
  • Disposing of waste and handling soiled linen appropriately
  • Theatre terminal cleaning
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice)
  • Minimum of two years previous experience in an Operating Theatre Assistant role
  • Experience in a hospital environment
