Energy Transition and Decarbonisation Expert

We are seeking an experienced Energy Transition and Decarbonisation expert to join our team at Baringa Partners. As a key member of our Australian Energy and Resources practice, you will play a critical role in shaping the energy transition in Australia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead consulting engagements to deliver high-impact results in the energy sector, working at the forefront of the energy transition.
  • Develop and implement decarbonisation strategies for large corporate consumers, including renewable energy contracting, carbon offsetting, and new technology appraisal.
  • Work with clients to quantify the value of behind-the-meter generation and define products and business models to realise this value.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Network Operators to define strategic and operational model changes required with increasing penetration of distributed renewable energy.
  • Develop and manage project teams to deliver actionable advice and support implementation of real change.
Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of experience in the energy market, carbon markets, or green fuels industry, ideally gained within Australia.
  • Commercial advisory experience gained either in industry or as a consultant to the energy industry.
  • Passion for solving critical and tricky problems, with the ability to lead and coach small teams to deliver high-impact results.
  • Confidence in engaging directly with leadership teams within wholesale markets, risk, strategy, and trading functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project teams collaboratively, across consulting staff and client employees.
