About the Role

We are pleased to present an opportunity for the Finance Business Partner role at Orica. In this essential position, you will collaborate closely with sub-regional and functional management teams to deliver financial insights that enhance shareholder value. Acting as the primary financial liaison, you will work alongside the local leadership team to provide performance insights and promote accountability within the management framework.

To excel in this role, you should possess a strong reputation for integrity and ethical conduct, with the ability to cultivate trust both internally and externally. This position offers a unique chance to influence the financial strategy and overall success of our business.

Key Responsibilities

Contract and Bid Oversight

  • Collaborate with regional and functional teams to optimize contract value, identifying unprofitable agreements and maximizing opportunities for variations.
  • Ensure that financial bid models accurately represent business inputs for new or revised proposals from the Account Management team.

Financial Analysis and Performance Evaluation

  • Conduct regular commercial assessments to comprehend cost and value dynamics, implementing actions to enhance overall returns.
  • Provide financial guidance for projects and business improvement initiatives, managing working capital and cash flow effectively.
  • Assess and oversee financial performance for the business unit, ensuring adherence to Group standards.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

  • Influence key stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Support the accuracy and compliance of monthly reporting processes, forecasting, and budget submissions across various functions.
  • Assist in monitoring and controlling fixed costs, analyzing cost drivers, and identifying critical activities.

Capital and Financial Oversight

  • Ensure that capital requests are backed by robust financial models and comprehensive business cases.
  • Challenge assumptions in capital expenditure proposals and hold teams accountable for delivering on those expectations.

Operational Support and Education

  • Address performance deviations promptly and ensure accountability among relevant team members.
  • Provide in-depth financial knowledge and guidance, including training on Orica's financial systems.
  • Enhance accuracy in budgeting and forecasting inputs for the business.

Compliance and Meetings

  • Ensure compliance with Group standards and participate in Site SH&E meetings as mandated by the SHE Charter.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in accounting or finance (or a related field).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business.
  • Professional designation: CA, CMA, or CPA (or nearing qualification).
  • Experience in a large, global organization.
  • Familiarity with SAP and SAP Hana.
