Job Role

The Science Technician plays a key role in supporting hands-on science education at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

  • You will provide technical support and expertise to a range of undergraduate laboratory-based teaching programs to facilitate a quality practical experience and ensure students' successful completion of all learning objectives and outcomes.
  • You will contribute to method development and problem-solving of standard procedures, assisting in the development and implementation of new techniques within the teaching laboratories.
  • You will contribute to the safe working practices within the teaching laboratories and auxiliary facilities, including compliance with risk and waste management systems, and the routine maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment.

About You

You are someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with strong interpersonal skills that help you communicate clearly and positively with a wide range of people.

You possess a relevant degree or a combination of relevant experience and education/training, previous work experience in providing a broad range of technical support in teaching and/or research activities, sound analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to general teaching laboratory support, and the ability to analyze results of experimental trail runs, conduct quality checks on methods, and investigate experimental protocols that do not give the anticipated results.
