Position Overview:
The Loss Prevention Clerk plays a crucial role in safeguarding the assets of Costco Wholesale Australia Pty. Ltd. This position involves a rotating schedule that includes weekend shifts, with start times as early as 5 AM and concluding as late as 11 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of the warehouse and surrounding areas to identify and address safety and security issues.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Costco's protocols and relevant legislation pertaining to loss prevention. Participate in training sessions and workshops focused on loss prevention strategies.
- Monitor, identify, and investigate potential theft incidents, both internal and external. Report any suspected internal theft to the Warehouse Manager and engage in the Shrink Committee.
- Apprehend and question suspected shoplifters when necessary.
- Compile detailed reports for internal use and potential legal proceedings.
- Organize and preserve evidence and documentation related to investigations.
- Provide testimony in court regarding theft-related cases. Collaborate with other Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and security personnel from nearby businesses to share insights on current theft trends.
- Adhere to established Member Service protocols and general safety standards. Offer assistance in various warehouse departments as required.
- Deliver prompt and courteous service to members, staff, and vendors. When stationed in the office, manage incoming calls and assist callers as needed.
