About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Researcher to join our team at the University of New South Wales. As a Senior Researcher, you will play a key role in investigating brain mechanisms for how risk and aversion shape learning and decision-making.

Job Summary
  • This is a fixed-term position for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
  • The successful candidate will contribute independently and as a team member in collaborative research with a focus on enhancing the quality of research outcomes in the discipline area.
  • You will conduct research (as per the norms of the discipline) and create scholarly output that is recognised by peers.
Responsibilities

The Senior Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research and creating scholarly output that is recognised by peers.
  • Supporting the dissemination of research outcomes through publication in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
  • Undertaking specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader and contributing to the development of research activities.
  • Collaborating closely with research partners and participating in conferences and workshops relevant to the project.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in neuroscience, psychology or a related discipline, and research experience in one or more of the following: calcium imaging, optogenetics, chemogenetics, behavioural testing in mice or rats, or data analysis using MATLAB, R, or Python.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
