The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is a leading healthcare provider in Australia, dedicated to delivering exceptional care to thousands of children each year.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist to join the Children's Cancer Research Unit at Kid's Research, The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on improving outcomes for children with cancer.

As a key member of the CCRU team, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory research under the guidance of senior staff, applying various biochemical, molecular, and cell biology techniques.

You will also contribute to the administration of the research unit, ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory experiments and data analysis.

This is a well-established and highly regarded research team at Kid's Research at the Children's Hospital at Westmead.

The CCRU carries out laboratory research into the genetic predisposition and molecular mechanisms driving childhood cancer, as well as translational research aimed at improving outcomes for children with cancer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting laboratory research under the direction of senior staff
  • Applying biochemical, molecular, and cell biology techniques
  • Contributing to the administration of the research unit

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree relevant to medical science with evidence of excellent academic achievement or equivalent scientific/technical experience in molecular biology and/or cancer research
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following: molecular assays, proteomics, cell-based assays, multi-parameter flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical packages desirable
  • Demonstrated high level of organisation and meticulous record-keeping skills
  • Evidence of efficient time management and multi-tasking

This role offers a competitive salary package ranging from $66,027.58 to $79,458.87 per annum (full-time equivalent base salary range), plus benefits such as access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a collaborative work environment.
