Youth and Community Safety Manager

Tangentyere Council is seeking an experienced and skilled professional to fill the position of Youth and Community Safety Manager. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, development, and management of the Youth and Community Safety (YCS) Division.
Key Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership to the YCS Division, including planning, design, and implementation of programs within an integrated service delivery model.
- Engage and maintain the YCS Leadership Team to implement all programs within the YCS Integrated Model of Care.
- Maintain recruitment, retention, training, and development of YCS staff at a divisional level.
- Create a positive work environment and address procedural and interpersonal conflicts involving the YCS Division.
- Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation, including ensuring YCS programs align with the National Principles of for Child Safe Organisations.
- Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
- Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
- Tertiary Qualifications or relevant extensive experience in Business Administration or Community and Social Services.
- Demonstrated experience managing and overseeing Youth and/or Community Safety operations, case management, recreation, diversion, and after-hours programs for children and young people.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of standards of practice in Youth Development and Leadership.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise tasks and delegate effectively.
- Good oral and written communication skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a substantial budget effectively.
- An understanding of Aboriginal culture, in particular the key issues faced by young Aboriginal people in Central Australia.
- Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
- Qualification and/or knowledge in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) framework for responding to client incidents.
- Previous experience in the Northern Territory and/or Central Australian context, particularly in relation to managing and developing staff in a cross-cultural context.
