Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer

About the Role
Central Australian Aboriginal Congress is seeking an experienced Aboriginal Client Engagement Officer to support the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service.
The successful candidate will provide client liaison and cultural brokerage, consulting, planning and organising events and activities with and for members to assist in healing.
The Congress Link-Up Service is an integral service within Congress' Youth and Family Services Section of the Child, Youth and Family Services Division, providing family tracing, reunion and counselling services to the Stolen Generations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying as an Aboriginal person and being recognised and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
- Minimum certificate IV qualifications or proven experience in family support, education or health
- Good communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people
- Ability to competently use computer software, especially word processing, data inputting and compilation of presentations
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and demonstrated understanding of the history and effects of the forcible removal of Aboriginal children from their families and communities
- Current Drivers Licence
