About the Role

Glen Eira City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Operations Excellence Manager to lead our building maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, contract management, and building maintenance practices.

Job Description:

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic municipality located in the southeast metropolitan region of Melbourne, approximately 10 kilometres from the CBD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of our building operations officers, managing critical contracts, and driving excellence in building maintenance and operations.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of building construction, maintenance practices, safety regulations, emergency management, building compliance standards, and current legislation. They will also have experience in budget control and financial management, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the performance of building operations officers and manage various building-related contracts
  • Develop, implement, and manage contracts to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Analyse inspection data, identify issues, and address them promptly to maintain high standards
  • Manage Council Buildings security and Emergency Management programs

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A tertiary qualification or extensive hands-on experience in a related field
  • Proven experience in leadership and contract management within the building maintenance sector
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, vendors, and team members
  • Experience in budget control and financial management
