Aboriginal Homelessness Reform Policy Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aboriginal homelessness reform policy specialist to provide high-level policy, advocacy, and secretariat support to the Blueprint Steering Committee and Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness Forum (AHHF) on matters relating to Aboriginal homelessness reform in Victoria.

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge and lived experience of Victorian Aboriginal societies and cultures, as well as demonstrated understanding of social, economic, and political factors affecting housing and homelessness. They will also possess an understanding of historical and contemporary impacts of homelessness and housing exclusion on Aboriginal communities.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Develop and implement policy initiatives to address Aboriginal homelessness in Victoria
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Blueprint Steering Committee and AHHF
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and other relevant parties
  • Promote and advocate for the interests of Aboriginal Victorians in relation to housing and homelessness

  • Expert knowledge and lived experience of Victorian Aboriginal societies and cultures
  • Demonstrated understanding of social, economic, and political factors affecting housing and homelessness
  • Understanding of historical and contemporary impacts of homelessness and housing exclusion on Aboriginal communities
  • Experience in policy analysis and development, strategic advocacy initiatives, and building relationships within the Aboriginal community-controlled sector
