Job Description

The Clinical Coder will be responsible for accurately and timely coding inpatient episodes of care using ICD-10-AM classification. This ensures alignment with Australian Coding Standards and SWSLHD policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analysing clinical documentation to abstract relevant clinical and demographic data.
  • Assigning codes using the ICD-10-AM classification system and Solventum Codefinder.
  • Maintaining coding accuracy and output within NSW Ministry of Health timeframes.
  • Participating in audits and quality improvement activities.
  • Staying up-to-date with coding standards, policies, and continuous education.
Requirements
  • Previous or current work experience in clinical coding is preferred or a strong aptitude and willingness to be trained as an entry-level coder.
  • A strong understanding of anatomy, disease processes, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of DRGs, Casemix, and episode funding applications.
  • High attention to detail, excellent time management, and ability to meet throughput targets.
  • Commitment to ethical coding and quality documentation practices.
