Job DescriptionThe Clinical Coder will be responsible for accurately and timely coding inpatient episodes of care using ICD-10-AM classification. This ensures alignment with Australian Coding Standards and SWSLHD policies.
Key Responsibilities- Analysing clinical documentation to abstract relevant clinical and demographic data.
- Assigning codes using the ICD-10-AM classification system and Solventum Codefinder.
- Maintaining coding accuracy and output within NSW Ministry of Health timeframes.
- Participating in audits and quality improvement activities.
- Staying up-to-date with coding standards, policies, and continuous education.
- Previous or current work experience in clinical coding is preferred or a strong aptitude and willingness to be trained as an entry-level coder.
- A strong understanding of anatomy, disease processes, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of DRGs, Casemix, and episode funding applications.
- High attention to detail, excellent time management, and ability to meet throughput targets.
- Commitment to ethical coding and quality documentation practices.
