**About the Role**

Precruitment, a leading recruitment consultancy in North Queensland, is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager to join our client, a Shire Council located in the outback.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing various operations, including town maintenance, water treatment, airport operations, waste management, local plant and depot management, staff management, capital works, and asset management.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Oversee parks, gardens, and public infrastructure, ensuring they are well-maintained and meet community standards.

• Manage water treatment plants, ensuring compliance with quality standards and implementing strategies to improve efficiency.

• Ensure Aerodrome and other town airstrips are operational and compliant, prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction.

• Oversee waste collection and landfill operations, focusing on environmental health outcomes and reducing waste.

• Manage depots and associated fleet, maintaining high standards of maintenance and logistics.

• Develop, monitor, and perform the development, monitoring, and performance management of personnel reporting to this position.

• Coordinate local capital works in collaboration with engineering services, balancing budget constraints and project timelines.

• Oversee asset maintenance, providing input into plans and ensuring assets are properly maintained.

• Lead workplace health and safety initiatives, promoting a culture of safety and preventing incidents.

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in water or waste management (Cert III in Water Treatment or higher).

• Experience in leadership or equivalent management positions, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of financial and administrative systems, specifically Practical, Infoexpert, Infocouncil, and Microsoft Office.

• Familiarity with local government policies, budgets, and plans, as well as applicable legislative requirements.

• Extensive knowledge of water treatment and reticulation systems, water planning, and control.

• Understanding of contemporary waste management and landfill practices, including environmental health outcomes.
