About the Indigenous Graduate Pathway

The Indigenous Graduate Pathway is a career development initiative designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary graduates in their transition to the Australian Public Service.

  • This program provides a structured pathway for graduates to commence a full-time position in an Australian Government department or agency, with opportunities to advance to higher classification and salary upon completion of a 12-month program.

About the Role

The Indigenous Graduate Pathway offers entry into various Australian Government agencies seeking diverse skills and abilities. The program aims to attract and retain talented individuals who can contribute to the achievement of the Australian Government's goals and objectives.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, formal training, and tailored skill-building opportunities to establish professional grounding and build networks.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Indigenous Graduate Pathway, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an Australian citizen.
  • Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree or higher by 31 December 2026.
  • Completed qualifications between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2026.
  • Maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance.
Selection Process

The selection process for the Indigenous Graduate Pathway includes:

  • Online application and resume upload.
  • Online testing and/or video interview.
  • Assessment centre activities such as panel interviews, group presentations, or written tasks.
  • Matching and offers to suitable placements in Australian Government departments or agencies.
