About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maritime Compliance Manager to join our Asia Pacific Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to maritime regulations across the Oceania region, including Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island nations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date with evolving international, domestic, and regional maritime regulations, with a focus on understanding local laws and practices impacting operations in Oceania.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with maritime regulatory authorities across Oceania.
  • Serve as the company's primary point of contact for compliance-related matters in the Oceania region.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and industry research to identify trends and best practices, maintaining a competitive position while upholding the highest compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational compliance, analysing procedures, providing guidance, and implementing necessary changes.
  • Identify and mitigate potential non-compliance risks by implementing proactive strategies.
  • Oversee resolution of local compliance issues, enabling minimal disruption to trade while ensuring regulatory adherence.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, timely, and comprehensive compliance reports, documentation, and filings as required by relevant authorities.
  • Serve as a standing member of the internal Area Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC), collating relevant Maritime information for the ARCC pack.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations at international, regional, and local levels in Oceania, coupled with the ability to interpret and apply complex requirements effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with authorities, cross-functional teams, and represent the company.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to identify industry trends, address compliance risks, and propose practical solutions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in ensuring adherence, preparing accurate documentation, and staying updated on regulatory changes.
  • Strategic thinking to align operations with regulatory requirements while maintaining competitiveness and upholding standards.
  • Adaptability and project management skills to respond proactively to evolving regulations and implement compliance strategies.
  • Proven experience in maritime operations, understanding best practices, procedures, inspections, audits, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Willingness to travel across Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island nations, to liaise with authorities and port officials.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently while collaborating across global teams.
