Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Maritime Security Specialist to join our team at Certis Security Australia. As a key member of our security team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our maritime zones.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to work in a busy gatehouse environment. You will be responsible for controlling access into our maritime zone, signing contractors in and out, and checking their induction cards and MSICs. You will also be required to monitor CCTV systems, respond to alarms, and provide perimeter security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Controlling access into the maritime zone, including persons and vehicles, in accordance with MTOFSA regulations
  • Signing contractors IN/OUT and monitoring their movement
  • Checking contractor's induction cards and MSICs to ensure compliance with security protocols
  • Monitoring CCTV systems and responding to alarms generated by access systems, fire systems, building management control systems, and CCTV systems
  • Providing perimeter security by ensuring there is no unauthorized access to the site or vulnerabilities to the physical and electronic security integrity of the Site perimeter
  • Conducting regular patrols and administration duties, including locking/unlocking doors and gates
  • Providing daily communications diary, event logs, incident reports, breaches, foot patrol reports, readings, alarms, and checks
  • Promptly identifying and preventing illegal and/or inappropriate behavior that has the potential to result in damage to property and/or persons
  • Reporting any security risks to the client contact and supervisor
  • Responding to on-site medical emergencies and providing first aid as required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • Current and applicable Security license
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
  • Licence to work as a security guard issued or recognized by the relevant State or Territory and in force
  • Occupational First Aid
  • Valid driving license
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience writing detailed incident reports
  • Experience using access control systems
  • Teamwork experience

Additional Information

The National competencies required of a Maritime Security Guard include understanding the purpose and intent of the MTOFSA, legislation covering MSGs, and the different types of security zones. They must also understand the duties and responsibilities of an MSG and each of the powers provided, along with restrictions and requirements.

Estimated Salary: AU$60,000 - AU$80,000 per annum based on qualifications, location, and industry standards.
