Role Overview

The Product Manager for Retail Operations will oversee the interactions between Solstice Energy Retail and various market entities, including our billing system, Tas Networks, Yurika, and AEMO. This role is pivotal in ensuring that customer accounts are managed in compliance with market regulations and that any system issues are promptly addressed to achieve operational efficiency.

Reporting to the Head of Customer Service & Operations, the Product Manager will serve as the authority on electricity market interactions, ensuring accurate updates to customer accounts and market dealings. This position acts as a crucial link between the customer service and billing teams and market providers.

Key Responsibilities

The Product Manager will engage with external stakeholders and handle daily operational tasks essential for Solstice Energy to achieve its operational and customer service goals. The role emphasizes a customer-centric approach in all activities.

Operational Duties

  • Manage market-related inquiries and prioritize customer-specific service requests.
  • Comprehend the interaction requirements between Solstice and its key partners to facilitate seamless operations within the Australian Energy Market.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Retail team regarding market interactions, service requests, and AEMO transactions.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to assist in planning and executing system upgrades, while addressing key system issues as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational tasks.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Coordinate workflow with the Head of Customer Service & Operations to ensure team performance meets stakeholder expectations.
  • Act as an external representative for the team when a comprehensive approach is necessary.
  • Proactively identify and implement quality improvements in team processes.
  • Support and motivate team members effectively.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of three years' experience in a role focused on the technical aspects of the Australian Electricity Market.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with MSATS and energy market interactions.
  • Ability to adopt a solution-oriented approach to technical challenges and integrate solutions into daily operations.
  • Flexibility to work efficiently in diverse environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proven track record in a customer service-focused environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to travel to various Solstice Energy locations as necessary.

Educational Background

  • A tertiary qualification in information technology is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Electricity and Gas Markets and the supporting platforms.
