Job Summary:

The Manager Indigenous Engagement is a new leadership opportunity at RMIT University, reporting to the Director Governance & Strategic Initiatives. This role sits in the College of Vocational Education and is responsible for providing high-level strategic advice and leadership to develop and implement initiatives related to the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students, and partners.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across RMIT to support whole-of-university efforts to embed sustainable reconciliation and build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff, students, and community.

This role requires a strong understanding of systemic barriers and challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build productive relationships with a wide range of groups.

The Manager Indigenous Engagement will be responsible for driving staff capability with regards to RMIT's responsible practice ambitions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff engagement, and building strong connections with Indigenous communities and organisations to co-design Indigenous-led approaches to the College of VE's strategic directions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level strategic advice and leadership to develop and implement initiatives related to Indigenous engagement and reconciliation
  • Work collaboratively across RMIT to support whole-of-university efforts to embed sustainable reconciliation and build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff, students, and community
  • Drive staff capability with regards to RMIT's responsible practice ambitions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff engagement, and building strong connections with Indigenous communities and organisations

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of systemic barriers and challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build productive relationships with a wide range of groups
  • Relevant degree and/or qualifications and experience
