Stockperson Performer Job Opportunity

This role offers a unique blend of horse riding skills, animal handling, and live performance experience. As a Stockperson, you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of horse riding and choreography while maintaining a character.

The ideal candidate will have prior strong horse riding experience in a competitive field or station environment, as well as training in animal conditioning and behaviour. They should also possess demonstrated harness, trick riding, and whip cracking skills, and experience working with other livestock such as cattle, sheep, and work dogs.

In addition to these skills, the successful applicant will need to be able to play a specific age range and have previous acting experience in a live theatrical environment. Strong vocal ability is also essential to meet the requirements of the character.

About the Role:

  • To rehearse and learn any roles or characters allocated
  • To follow direction given from the Show Director and VRTP management team
  • Ensure all animals are treated with care and respect
  • Training and education young inexperienced horses into a live show environment
  • Mentally and physically stimulating animals for animal welfare purposes
  • Addressing unwanted animal behaviours through consultation with the Equine Manager
  • Maintain all animals, backstage areas, and stables to the highest standards
  • Ensure all show equipment, costumes, saddlery are maintained and conduct regular safety checks
  • Responsible for maintaining your fitness levels and physical attributes required to fulfill the role
