About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Financial Control Manager to join our team at Officeworks. This is a strategic role where you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and complete financial data.

You will lead a team of senior financial accountants and tax specialists with 5 direct reports, and report to the Financial Controller. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Financial Controller, driving continuous improvement and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting/leading in conjunction with the Financial Controller on key projects, acting as a secondary key contact
  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end Wesfarmers results submission process on a monthly, half yearly and annual basis
  • Ensure completion of all monthly, half yearly and year end statutory requirements including tax calculations
  • Seek to understand and fulfill strategic objectives including an emphasis on continuous improvement / automation of process, systems, control and reporting
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and co-ordinate the information to be provided to auditors at Half Year and Year End
  • Ensure integrity of the month end process via the Reconciliation and Task controls
  • Coordinate the month end process with the broader team (Allocations, Variance Reporting, ECP&L Distribution etc)
  • Ensure accurate & timely entry of all financial data into the general ledger system and provide effective analysis, recommendations & explanation of any variances

About You

You are an experienced CA/CPA qualified, people centric hands-on leader with a strong desire to drive efficiencies, continuous improvement with a result orientated and solutions focus mind. You will have strong technical experience with a focused on the development and growth of your team. In addition, you will have:

  • Strong and demonstrated leadership experience (minimum 5 years) in financial accounting related roles
  • Deep expertise in accounting and tax leading teams in a similar role ideally in a retail environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical accounting standards and processes
  • Good commercial skills with ability to Business Partner, enhance understanding and drive improvement
  • Experience using SAP is essential with BW, OneStream and/or Blackline experience is highly desirable
  • An ability to present detailed information in a simple and concise manner working with stakeholders at all levels
