Safety Policy Development Specialist

About The Role
The Health and Safety Policy Advisor will play a crucial role in shaping the institution's health and safety policies, ensuring they are effectively developed, implemented, and maintained. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, particularly the Director of Technical Services and Facilities, to drive H&S policy changes that support the organisation's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop, implement, and review health and safety policy frameworks across the institution.
- Lead the creation of compliance documentation and ensure policies meet regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess and evaluate the impact of health and safety initiatives on various departments, especially STEM.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring all policies are subject to regular audits and reviews.
- Lead training programs and workshops to build awareness and drive compliance with new and existing health and safety policies.
Requirements
- Strong background in policy development within a health and safety or regulatory compliance environment.
- Proven experience in change management, with a track record of successfully implementing H&S policies in complex environments.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience in H&S risk assessments, auditing, and policy review processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex H&S policies into practical guidance.
