About the Opportunity

The National Transport Commission (NTC) is seeking a highly skilled Principal Policy Advisor to join its Heavy Vehicle Reform team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in developing and supporting the delivery of national law reforms to ensure safe, sustainable, and productive heavy vehicle and freight transport operations in Australia.

About the Role

The Principal Policy Advisor will undertake research, develop policy and legislation, and support the delivery of the Heavy Vehicle Reform Program. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders to build productive working relationships and provide expert advice on policy and regulatory matters.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have significant strategic government policy development and regulatory reform experience. You will also possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to synthesise diverse information sources and build a compelling argument.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Significant strategic government policy development and regulatory reform experience
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, and the ability to synthesise diverse information sources and build a compelling argument
  • Senior stakeholder management and the ability to build productive working relationships
  • Highly developed analytical, conceptual, and creative problem-solving skills, including experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis to support public policy development
  • Adaptable program and project management, involving multiple disciplines and delivery partners
  • Desirable - Experience in vehicle telematics and the related policy and regulatory considerations
