Technical Product Owner - Platform Strategist

We're seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to lead the delivery of a new SaaS-based platform, Temporal. This innovative solution enables Durable Execution of Workflows across our organisation.

As the key interface between the platform team and business units, you'll gather requirements and translate them into actionable backlog items. You'll champion the adoption of Temporal across multiple internal teams, promoting its secure integration into workflows via CBA's internal toolsets.

We're looking for someone with a strong software development background, hands-on coding experience, and a deep understanding of how to integrate SDKs into existing technical workflows and pipelines. A well-versed individual in saga patterns, orchestration, and choreography use cases is essential.

You'll steer delivery and prioritisation without direct reports, leading through influence and technical credibility. Your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and translate technical needs into strategic delivery will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set and define product strategy, vision, goals, and roadmap, aligned to business objectives and engage with key stakeholders to manage technical delivery.
  • Champion the adoption of Temporal across multiple internal teams including Payments, Retail Banking, Security, Cloud and Networks.
  • Take overall accountability and technical ownership for the design and engineering of a platform, while addressing impediments and resolving escalations.
  • Utilise strong knowledge of software engineering methodology to ensure systems are loosely coupled, fit-for-purpose, and comply with technical requirements.
  • Promote the Temporal service, helping teams integrate it securely into their workflows via CBA's internal toolsets.
Requirements:
  • Strong software development background, with hands-on coding experience and a deep understanding of how to integrate SDKs into existing technical workflows and pipelines.
  • Well-versed in saga patterns, with hands-on experience implementing orchestration and choreography use cases in real-world applications.
  • Comfortable working across diverse codebases and able to advise teams on incorporating Temporal into platforms built with technologies like Java, .NET, Python, TypeScript and more.
  • Experience with workflow-based platforms such as Pega and understands orchestration and transaction properties.
  • Effective communication skills to translate technical needs into strategic delivery.
