Job Title: Disability Support Program Leader

We are a department committed to empowering individuals with disabilities. Our portfolio includes Child and Family Wellbeing, Employment Support Services, Income Assistance, Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and the Disability Support Program.

The Disability Support Program is dedicated to fostering innovative solutions for people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.

As a leader in our DSP Team, you will oversee day-to-day operations and support the implementation of our new community-based program. This framework addresses systemic discrimination against persons with disabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Managing the delivery of our Disability Support Programs to meet regional needs
  • Providing recommendations for program improvements and monitoring their delivery and evaluation
  • Full responsibility for team member recruitment, selection, onboarding, discipline, performance management, and grievance procedures
  • Leading your team through change, providing coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, and professional development
  • Mentoring your team to achieve short-term and long-term priorities of our department
  • Building partnerships within communities and promoting local services and leadership among persons with disabilities in improving our DSP Programs
  • Championing inclusivity and human-centred approaches in all aspects of work
  • Fostering authentic relationships in both the workplace and community
Qualifications and Experience:

Post-secondary education in Management, Social Sciences, Disability Supports, Human/Social Services or Health Care Related fields, plus several years of related experience

Passion for people and human rights, fostering a positive culture; combined experience in disability services, programs, and team leadership

Key Qualities:
  • Strong relationship management skills to partner with community members and develop individual-specific services
  • Leadership skills to navigate changes aligning with our new DSP framework
  • Collaborative work experience to maintain equitable processes for team member selection, onboarding, coaching, and management
  • Interpretation skills, especially regarding the DSP remedy, and providing expert guidance for program delivery and compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy for conflict resolution and navigation in ambiguous situations
  • Understanding of challenging circumstances faced by individuals with disabilities and mental health conditions, and awareness of intersectionality's impact on their experiences
