Aboriginal Liaison Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aboriginal Liaison Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in building trust and strengthening engagement with Aboriginal communities, using approaches that respect cultural protocols and traditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies, programs, events, and resources that promote meaningful engagement, cultural understanding, and respectful practices.
  • Provide advice on cultural matters and support parliamentary committees by offering valuable insights and guidance on matters related to Aboriginal engagement, protocols, identifies opportunities to strengthen connections, and supports parliamentary committees with guidance on community engagement.
  • Work closely with the Senior Aboriginal Liaison Officer to develop and implement strategies that improve engagement with Aboriginal communities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder and project management, known for delivering Aboriginal engagement initiatives that make a real impact.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to share stories and messages that connect with different audiences in a clear and respectful way.
  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal cultures, along with a commitment to learning and growing.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on achieving meaningful outcomes.
