Aboriginal Community Liaison Specialist

Job Description:

The Aboriginal Community Liaison Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities to enhance communication and access to services for clients. This involves designing and delivering programs that facilitate Aboriginal communities' access to services, while developing staff skills to become more confident and aware of the needs of our Aboriginal community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing district workforce initiatives to increase Indigenous employment rates
  • Oversight of information dissemination to Indigenous community members and management where relevant
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities
  • Designing and delivering programs that assist Aboriginal communities to access essential services

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to consult with senior staff on sensitive matters
  • Prioritizing demanding workloads and providing expert advice and recommendations
  • Ability to undertake aspects of contracting, tendering, and capital works projects
  • Liaising and working across divisions and non-government stakeholders

Desirable Skills:

  • Sophisticated communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Experience in program design, management, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Cultural capability, including lived experience, knowledge, and understanding of contemporary social issues affecting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people

What We Offer:

  • Salary range $101,947 to $112,849 p.a., plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
