Paediatric Critical Care Career Development

This 12-month program is designed for Registered Nurses who wish to enhance their paediatric critical care skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Participants will acquire clinical nursing experience, core paediatric critical care skills, and apply theoretical knowledge to practice within a collaborative team. They will deliver paediatric advanced life support and haemodynamic monitoring, provide comprehensive care to critically unwell children, recognise and escalate clinical deterioration, champion family-centred care, and work effectively with a culturally safe multidisciplinary team.
The program provides participants with the opportunity to develop foundational Paediatric Critical Care skills in a compassionate and dynamic environment, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, and caring for paediatric trauma patients and those with complex oncology and surgical needs.
Preceptorship opportunities will also be available, enabling participants to refine their leadership capabilities and gain valuable experience in precepting junior staff members.
Key Components:- Full orientation to the Intensive Care Services and the PICU
- Supported classroom and bedside style teaching
- Dedicated study days to complement associated theoretical modules
