Policy Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Officer to join our team in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.
About the RoleThe Policy Officer will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of policies and programs that promote regional development and local government.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes across business management activities.
- Provide input to the development and implementation of policies and programs to support the government's development agenda.
- Assist with coordinating and providing input to briefings for senior executives and Ministers.
- Support effective governance and risk management across a range of programs and activities.
- Work with a wide range of stakeholders, including First Nations Australians, to develop and implement programs.
- Provide secretariat support to Ministerial and other forums.
- Provide advice on investment proposals.
- Support grant program development and administration.
- Provide input to proposals to represent the interests of northern and regional Australia.
- Provide advice on corporate issues including financial matters, HR, and governance.
- Experience in strategic communications, policy development, program/project development, secretariat support, finance, urban planning, or a similar role.
- Effective organisational skills, including the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder relationships.
- Enthusiastic and flexible approach, with resilience under pressure.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a supportive team environment.
