About the Role

We are seeking an experienced journalist to fill a key leadership role within our digitally focused Newswire team.

This position works in conjunction with the Editor to ensure that we have the right people in the right place to cover the news of the day. As Deputy Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for driving the news agenda, adhering to our policy of fairness, balance and accuracy, and ensuring no key stories are missed.

With a strong background in journalism and leadership, you will be able to motivate and lead a dynamic team who are dedicated to quality journalism. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, meet deadlines, and make judgement calls on the relevance of stories.

What We're Looking For
  • An experienced journalist with a proven track record of leading teams and motivating others
  • Excellent news sense and ability to drive the news agenda
  • Strong writing and copy editing skills, with attention to detail and ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
