Job Description

As a Dam Instrumentation Specialist, you will be responsible for performing routine audits and health assessments of existing instruments performance, reliability and efficiency. You will also investigate and report on departures or opportunities for improvement, providing ongoing training to operators in reading and calibrating monitoring instruments.

The successful candidate will lead projects involving the augmentation to existing, or installation of new dam monitoring instrumentation systems. You will implement field data collection procedures and practices, ensuring accurate and timely monitoring instrumentation data is available to meet organisational requirements.

You will work closely with the Dam Safety Engineers to initiate investigations and corrective action as needed. Your role will involve analysing whole of life-cycle instrumentation asset costs and recommending cost minimisation measures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine audits and health assessments of existing instruments performance, reliability and efficiency.
  • Investigate and report on departures or opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide ongoing training to operators in reading and calibrating monitoring instruments.
  • Lead projects involving the augmentation to existing, or installation of new dam monitoring instrumentation systems.
  • Implement field data collection procedures and practices.
  • Monitor and report QA performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monitoring instrumentation data is available to meet organisational requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, or demonstrated relevant experience.
  • Experience in the design and/or installation of geotechnical and dam instrumentation for the purpose of performance monitoring.
  • Demonstrated skills in monitoring data management, including quality of data and its interrogation and extraction for reporting.
  • Analytical and investigative skills and the ability to read and interpret data trends.
  • Ability to produce practical asset plans based on an array of requirements and balancing the asset management life cycle activities including operations, maintenance and capital works.
  • Demonstrated experience in database management and manipulation, instrumentation, electrical and electronic and communication systems.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.
